A New Act Begins: Magenta Theater Celebrates Eileen Leyva's Role as Managing Director

VANCOUVER, December 15, 2023 — Magenta Theater is thrilled to announce the appointment of Eileen Leyva as the new Managing Director, bringing a wealth of artistic expertise and management experience to Vancouver’s esteemed non-profit theater.

"We look forward to the dynamic leadership and creative vision that Eileen will bring to our organization,” said Angela Wall, Magenta Theater board president. “Their enthusiastic drive and experience will help Magenta Theater continue its 21-year tradition of community theater excellence in Vancouver."

Meet Eileen Leyva

A versatile artist with roots in the vibrant cultural crossroads of Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, Eileen Leyva's passion for the arts began in their formative years. Eileen holds a degree in Theater Arts with an emphasis in performance and directing from Vanguard University, complemented by minors in music and religion.

Diverse Experience

Eileen's journey includes being an integral member of a touring improv and sketch comedy team, assuming the role of area manager at Amazon, and holding titles such as resident stage manager, operations manager, and digital marketing director.

Advocacy for Diversity and Inclusion

Beyond artistic pursuits, Eileen ardently advocates for diversity, inclusion and representation in the arts and entertainment industry. Their profound belief in the power of equitable and diverse storytelling will undoubtedly enrich Magenta Theater's programming.

Embracing Vancouver

Venturing into the Pacific Northwest, Eileen fell in love with Vancouver and quickly immersed themselves in the artistic community after a COVID-19 induced hiatus.

Excitement for the Future

Eileen most recently served as a customer engagement specialist at a capital market company. They are enthusiastic about launching this new endeavor serving the Vancouver community.

Magenta Theater Sets the Stage for a Year of Creativity and Community Connection in 2024

Vancouver’s Magenta Theater is excited to announce our 2024 line up. In addition to our Main Stage productions, we look forward to bringing a full schedule of staged readings, children’s plays, improv theater, musical reviews and fun and entertaining special events to the community.

“We are thrilled about our plans for the 2024 season,” said Angela Wall, Magenta Theater board president. “We are bringing three shows to the main stage for our patrons that will allow us to accommodate all the Main Street Promise project construction happening next year.”

Even with the reduced number of large productions, Wall said the rest of the year is filling up with plenty of entertainment options for theater fans to choose from.

Steel Magnolias

By Robert Harling

Welcome to Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play unexpectedly moves toward tragedy. The characters help us realize our own mortality and remind us what really matters in life. We can’t wait to bring you this truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable play.

Fall 2024, Sept 27- Oct 13

Announcement Coming Soon!

We are very excited about our fall production. We are still going through the performance rights acquisition process right now. Just know we have a play headed your way that will keep you guessing and laughing ‘till the very end.

Holiday, Dec 6- Dec 22

Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story

By Charles Dickens adapted by Jerry R Montoya

An inspired adaptation of the holiday classic, reimagined through highly theatrical storytelling. Actors whimsically transform from narrators into characters, and beloved carols are played and sung to alternately joyful and sinister effect, giving this familiar Christmas story a fresh and energetic feel.
