Spring & Summer Schedule 2012

Youth Classes
(ages 11-18)


Spring/Summer Academy
Instructor: Dori Matsen**

Times:All week days are 6:30pm - 8:30pm; Sat is 10:00am - 4:00pm
Classes: April 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14, 21; June 4, 18, 25; July 2, 9, 12, 13, 14
Performance:  July 14 @ 7:30pm
Cost:  $225 (28 hours of class time, educational materials, script and one comp for performance on July 14th)

Classes will begin with script work, character analysis, stage presence and much more as it transitions into application and preparation for a showcase stage performance of Wind in the Willows. Every student will have an opportunity to participate in performance.

Improv 101: (11-18 Youth)
Instructor: Tony Provenzola**

Times: 10:00am - 4:00pm
Classes: July 21 & 28
(cost of admission included for MIT show on 7/28 @ 7:30)

Cost:  $90 (12 hours of class time, educational materials and one ticket for MIT performance on July 28th)

This workshop will break down the art and skills of Improv, giving students a full understanding of how to use this tool both on and off stage.

Adult Classes
(ages vary)

Lighting 101: (17-Adult)
Instructor: Andrea van de Bruggen**

Times: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Classes: April 30 (help with re-hang)
May 7, 14, 21 (learn theory and board)
June 4-5 (help with TAW hang), June 6-8 (help with cues and observe tech)
Cost:  $140
(18 hours of class time and educational materials – if you are interested in lighting design or crew for future Magenta productions, ask about our special discount)

Classes will begin with lighting theory and move quickly to hands on application. The class will also have the unique experience of taking part in a light hang, preparation and technical rehearsals that are vital as a lighting designer or light tech. Every student will have an opportunity to participate.

Actor’s Tool Box: (15-Adult)
Instructor: Melissa Barnick

Times: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Classes: July 10 17 24 31; August 7
Cost:  $90 (10 hours of class time and educational materials)

Discover the nuts and bolts, as well as some creative techniques to build and strengthen your acting skills. Whether you are a seasoned actor or you are new to the stage, this class will give you the tools you need to pursue the performing arts with more confidence.
